1988...This preview is a wistful look back in time at my 10th high school reunion - the one when you're in your late 20s, still healthy, vibrant, and optimistic about the future. Some classmates have traveled and have stories about great adventures. Some have married and started a family. Some have launched careers in the job field they aspired to while others have struggled and fear they may never be fulfilled. The early class reunions are always the happiest because time and potential are still on our side. As the decades roll by on the way to the golden 50th reunion and beyond, the harshness of life settles in and we count ourselves lucky to be among the survivors. The high school reunion is America in its truest form - crossing racial and ethinc lines, forgiving old enemies, reveling in the embrace of old friends. These are the people who knew you "when" and remember you today as if it were yesterday. This was my 10th high school reunion. I graduated from Classical High School in Lynn, Massachusetts in June 1978. I grew up in Lynn and matriculated through the public school system from Head Start in 1965 to kindergarten and on up to high school. I have since moved away but family and friends still remain in this once-thriving industrial city, which could be anywhere in America, anywhere old classmates gather to remember the best days of their youth.
