Hi Recipe for Success Network,

You asked for it! I'm reviewing 5 different kinds of project management software: Asana, Microsoft Project plan, Excel, Salesforce and proprietary tools and sharing my pros/cons for each. I'll then share my personal preferred tool and let you know how you can determine a framework to decide which is best for you to use. Every project manager (and aspiring project manager) will want to know what project planning tools are available to them, how to use them (or at least 1) and how to decide which tool is best-suited for your project needs, regardless of whether you are looking to become a google PM or a PMP!

Questions to consider:
1. What is the culture like at your company? What project management software is most commonly used?
2. How much effort/start-up cost will it take you to learn the software?
3. What is the size and scope of your project? Size and scope can often dictate what tool is best/easiest to use as well. For smaller projects, you could manually create a small project tracker using excel, but I wouldn't personally suggest this for larger projects.

You also want to consider what adoption of these tools is like at your company and what you're comfortable using!
