Shaykh Muhammad Adeyinka Mendes talks about the importance of the Holy month of Muharram, in particular the 10th day (Ashura), the exodus of Moses (Musa, peace be upon him) culminating in the story of how Imam al-Husayn stood up to tyranny.

He added after his talk "The martyrdom of Imam al-Husayn teaches us that it is only through the purification of the heart that we can resist the temptations of power and wealth as well as face the intimidation of tyrants with fearlessness in order to live on the earth with integrity, preserve our ethical principles, and safeguard our souls and communities."
