Shortly following its original 2017 release on YouTube, Cox's first queer short film was age-restricted and shadow banned from the platform. Now, in an effort to reach audiences it once could not, the film is back to streaming in a special director's re-release.

Honey follows a young woman who falls for another girl in her university residence hall. The film was entirely improvised, had no budget, and is Cox's earliest work of queer subject matter before he would go on to create films such as Summer of Mesa & Dino at the Beach.

Some notable stylistic choices Cox made such as close-up handheld shots and aspect ratio immerses the viewer into the character’s suffocating headspace to make the experience more intimate. The final shot is the only shot where the camera isn’t extremely close up.
