First and foremost I would like to share with you that I refer to this eagle as “Maybelline“ for identification purposes. At the time that I uploaded this video, she had been known as a frequent visitor to the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam but did not receive an official tittle nor name last season . Maybelline visited the nest tree several times last season. This eagle is not R23-3 nor the other frequent visitor that goes by several names. Both eagles were larger and made different vocalizations. With that in mind, I will continue to identify her as “Maybelline” until she is given an official name by SWFEC. I will then begin to refer to her by the official name.
I began to observe her spending time with Dad (on May 30) on the cell tower. Finally, on June 3, I was able to record reliable footage of them. As the the months of July and August progressed I would frequently see M15 and Maybelline at Yonder Pond although, not simultnaeously. Those who follow my photography page on Facebook know that I livestream videos of the eagles to document their well being. Maybelline spent the summer at Yonder Pond preening, catching fish, and resting. I included footage of her swooping at fish. As you view the videos from July and August, notice the labels identifying her new, developing feathers (molting) for comparison purposes. I included footage of her vocals (I apologize for the road noise) and as you can hear, her vocals are unique. She is now actively spending the day with Dad at the pasture pond and at the nest tree. I hope you enjoy this video! I am secretly rooting for her to be accepted by M15. At the time that I uploaded this video, her last two tail feathers were almost grown. This is a public video.
