The second cover of “Liam’s Defining Melodies: Reimagined” project. This song is low-key somewhat of an outlier compared to the other songs which are all by Charlie Puth. But yet, here we have a song by Coldplay that if you knew me back then, was so precious to me, ever since I first heard it on New Year’s Eve of 2016. It was this song that just like Attention did for Charlie, had also got me really into Coldplay’s music.

The lyrical sentiments of this song resonated with me, to make me ready for what was to come in 2017, my senior and final year of high school. After all the study, exams and spending final moments with peers to get close, this was the song playing in my head at high school graduation. Bidding farewell to twelve full years of schooling as well as my class peers and what I thought would be my swan song, never to listen to again in the future. Like Attention, this was also one of the very first covers on my channel.

Until I realised, throughout my university years I still had much more left to experience, learn and grow from. This song was a mere innocence to me back then, compared to hearing the song now with all the growth and resilience I’ve gained by the grace of God through the years from 2017-2023. Even during the darkest, hardest heartbreaking moments of my life from 2018-2020, this song was a companion in ensuring that everything would still turn out okay, and that when I do eventually finally properly heal after all the heavy valleys, this song will once again come back one last time to showcase that. ❤️‍🩹⛰️

Today in fact as of uploading this, marks six years since the exact day when I graduated from high school. Now here we are in 2023 coming full circle as we bid adieu to this entire chapter of my university life. This song to me reflects after all I went through, I’ve become a better, stronger and wiser person, with the Lord God who has been by my side all these years. The night is finally over, the light is now here at the end of the tunnel, and so a new dawn breaks. 🌄🌅

Feel free to dance along to this cover haha, I mean I did end using the live vocals and drums as well as use some bits from the live version, to really bring that energy the song always has when Coldplay performs it live. The one song where everyone just fully lets go and people are all united, dancing in unison. Hopefully one day Lord willing, I’d love to see them live in concert too! 🤞🏽
