TOI’s Unplastic India initiative caught up with environmental activist Afroz Shah on his journey to cleaning the formerly plastic waste-filled Versova beach in Mumbai. Shah, a lawyer by profession, is best known for organizing the world's largest beach clean-up project, which has grown into a movement that has inspired people around the world to clean up their surrounding environment. Today, India needs many more people to stand up like him and clean the plastic waste in their immediate vicinity, while educating people to avoid single-use plastic.
