US to Provide Patriot Missiles to Ukraine Under Fresh $6 Bn Aid Package

The US will send additional Patriot missiles to Ukraine for its previously supplied air defence systems. The missiles are a part of US fresh $6 billion aid package for Ukraine, which it says is the “largest security assistance package” so far. The package includes more munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS), HIMARS rocket launchers, Switchblade & Puma drones, counter-drone systems, and artillery. The package will integrate Western air defence systems into Ukraine’s existing weaponry that dates back to the Soviet era. The latest aid announcement follows Kyiv’s repeated calls for additional air defence systems, as it has been struggling to protect itself from Moscow’s strikes. The approval for fresh aid follows a $95 billion foreign aid package that was signed into law earlier this week.
