China has been investing heavily in Bangladesh, spending over $25 Billion in the country across multiple projects. China has given Bangladesh tanks, jets and even submarines over the years. The "Golden Friendship" drills are just the latest proof of the growing ties between Dhaka and Beijing. But perhaps Bangladesh should pay attention to what happened to another South Asian nation that got close to China; Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka suffered a financial meltdown in 2022, partly due to Chinese loans. But it seems Colombo has forgotten this harsh lesson.
