In a dramatic speech before the of the Organization of American States’ Permanent Council, Nicaraguan OAS Ambassador Arturo McFields took members by surprise and harshly criticized the human rights abuses of the Daniel Ortega government.

“Denouncing the dictatorship in my country is not easy,” he said, “but to continue to keep silent and defend the indefensible is impossible.”
